Rescue Me

‘Rescue Me’ is James Hardiment’s second album, which is due for Release in the fall months of 2023, (if everything goes to plan!)

A love letter to the Italo Disco style that James grew up, as a teenager, falling in love with. Italo, as the name suggests, is an electronic dance music style, that originated in Italy. it quickly spread across mainland Europe, as well as the other parts of the world, popular in nightclubs, and discotheques during the 1980’s. It came after ‘70s disco, and incorporated drum machines, synthesizers, harmony, and melody in the vocals, which were mostly sung in English. Many songs would also incorporate other languages, including French, Spanish, Italian, German.

The album is going to be 20 tracks in total, and will even include an old track “Somethin in the Woods”, a song composed in 2011 as the soundtrack to the film “Windigo”.

Some of the album was mixed by Josh Hart of Josh Hart Recordings in Ottawa, the rest by James Hardiment at Cute 4 Ya Height Records based in Cornwall area.

James has been performing his music live too, to promote the upcoming, and previous releases, of his original songs. Keep an eye out for scheduled shows below!

  • Rescue Me (Featuring Sarah Rae) (2021)

    (J. Hardiment)

(Mixed and mastered by Josh Hart at Josh Hart Recordings in Ottawa.)

    Lyrics:

    Chorus:

Rescue me I drown in the ocean,

    Get me to the shore,

Can’t believe you’d let me just die here,

Leave me in the war… (x2)

    Verse 1:

    I look for you,

    You hide from me,

    Behind those eyes,

    A fantasy,

    We march in line,

    Our hearts they beat,

    A lonely girl,

    From down the street,

    The sun shines down,

    A brand new day,

    The people sing,

    More than okay,

    Follow the heart,

    Into the soul,

    See where it goes,

    That’s what you stole…

    Pre-chorus:

Why, did you leave me alone?

I love you with all of my heart so come on baby at least imagine it?

Why, didn’t you pick up the phone?

    Oh come on baby please…

    Chorus:

Rescue me I drown in the ocean,

    Get me to the shore,

Can’t believe you’d let me just die here,

Leave me in the war… (x2)

    Verse 2:

    Let’s dance tonight,

    In the discotheque,

    The music plays,

    Stereo deck,

    My head it pounds,

    A rhythmic song,

    Your hips they sway,

    Love feels so strong,

    It’s then I know,

    My spirits free,

    This loves on sale,

    Oh can’t you see,

    Stood on the pier,

    I’m hanging on,

    You point and stare,

    I was so wrong…

    Pre-chorus:

Why, did you leave me alone?

I love you with all of my heart so come on baby at least imagine it?

Why, didn’t you pick up the phone?

    Oh come on baby please…

    Chorus:

Rescue me I drown in the ocean,

    Get me to the shore,

Can’t believe you’d let me just die here,

Leave me in the war… (x2)

    Bridge:

    (French part Sarah sings)

    Chorus:

Rescue me I drown in the ocean,

    Get me to the shore,

Can’t believe you’d let me just die here,

Leave me in the war… (x2)

  • Corrupted (2020)

    (J. Hardiment/D. Fyffe)

    Lyrics:

    Corrupted girl…

    Verse 1:

    I used to be,

    The most innocent guy,

    Shy like an angel,

    Such a delight,

    Then I drank,

    The vice from the river,

    No going back,

    Better deliver…

    Pre-Chorus:

Ba ra ta ta ta ta ta ta

Go the Tommy guns in the night,

    Ghosts of bootleggers and policeman,

    Haunt forever an eternal fight,

    (Eternal fight)

    Sleep tight,

    (Nighty nighty night…)

At the bottom of the river baby…

    Chorus:

    Corrupted girl,

    Across from the Motor City,

And she really rocked my world,

Shift the gears of love inside me…

    Verse 2:

    You grow up believing,

    Imperfect adults,

    Good pure and holy,

    If only, if only?

Then I saw they’re all desperate and lonely…

    Passion for money.

    Pre-Chorus:

Ba ra ta ta ta ta ta ta

Go the Tommy guns in the night,

    Ghosts of bootleggers and policeman,

    Haunt forever an eternal fight,

    (Eternal fight)

    Sleep tight,

    (Nighty nighty night…)

At the bottom of the river baby…

    Chorus:

    Corrupted girl,

    Across from the Motor City,

And she really rocked my world,

Shift the gears of love inside me…

    Bridge:

Come and drive in my Model T,

    We’ll break the ice,

    Become a part of history,

    Of history…

    Chorus:

    Corrupted girl,

    Across from the Motor City,

And she really rocked my world,

Shift the gears of love inside me…

    (Corrupted girl,

    Across from the Motor City,

And she really rocked my world,

Shift the gears of love inside me…)

(Eternal fight…nighty night, nighty night, nighty night, nighty night…)

(Mixed and mastered by James Hardiment at Cute 4 Ya Height Records in Cornwall, Ontario.)

    Lyrics:

    Verse 1:

    Off road in the Bushveld,

    A hunter finds his prey,

    Perched beneath the overgrowth,

    The clouds begin to grey,

Great gods above are crying down,

    Water starts to spray,

He only makes the slightest sound,

    The springbok runs away…

    Chorus:

I shout your name in the pouring rain,

    Across the savanna,

    Drive me insane,

    Debate and complain,

    It just doesn’t matter… (x2)

    Verse 2:

    Bushman he drinks nature,

A few small drops a day,

    Lives in a harsh climate,

    He knows no other way,

Thunder strikes and light pours down,

    Heaven starts to play,

Shaken up he hits the ground,

    Now it’s time to pray…

    Chorus:

I shout your name in the pouring rain,

    Across the savanna,

    Drive me insane,

    Debate and complain,

    It just doesn’t matter… (x2)

    Touch of classical,

    Because my head ain’t practical,

The time has come don’t waste it…

    in the monsoon rain,

Can you feel my heart that’s beating,

  • Music is My Choice (2022)

    (J. Hardiment)

    Lyrics:

    Chorus:

I thought I loved you but I guess our friendships pretend,

I thought you cared for me,

    Cruising the boulevard,

    I wanna hear your voice,

    Crank up the radio,

    The music is my choice…
