It all started when…

Singer-songwriter James Hardiment teamed up with sound engineer and musician Josh Hart to create the album “Wine”. The songs are a blend of pop, rock and Italo Disco.

The project was recorded at Hart Studios (now Josh Hart Recordings) located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada back in 2016-17. Hardiment would build the songs using his iPhone with GarageBand then transfer the MIDI files to Harts studio set up. Vocals were also recorded in studio and Hart played some small guitar riffs in the track “Graffiti”.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, top quality sound engineer we couldn’t recommend Josh enough! Here is a link to his services: https://www.joshhartrecordings.com

  1. Wine (2016)

    (J. Hardiment)

    Lyrics:

    (First Gear, Gear, Gear, Gear…)

    Verse 1:

He used to know a girl,

But now he doesn’t see her anymore…

(Oh oh eh oh, oh oh eh oh oh oh oh)

    Can’t make out and pretend,

That he doesn't feel for her no more now…

(Oh oh eh oh, oh oh eh oh oh)

    Pre-chorus 1:

Her eyes were like the ocean,

Her hair was like the Sun,

    Her light olive complexion,

Her tendency to run (run run run run…)

    Chorus:

Won’t you spend a little time?

We can drink a little wine,

The music plays we all feel fine,

You’re gonna dance with me baby tonight…

    Verse 2:

    He walks a lonely road,

With no-one else there by his side,

    The obstacles he faces,

May cost him more than just his pride…

(Oh oh eh oh, oh oh eh oh oh)

    Pre-chorus 2:

    She was an adventure,

    Across those neon nights,

    He barely can remember now,

No longer in his sights (sights sights sights sights)

    Chorus:

Won’t you spend a little time?

We can drink a little wine,

The music plays we all feel fine,

You’re gonna dance with me baby tonight…

    Bridge:

And he couldn’t even get into first gear…

(Couldn’t even get into first gear, whoa…)

    With a drunken confidence,

    And no fear…

(With a drunken confidence and no fear….)

    Chorus:

Won’t you spend a little time?

We can drink a little wine,

The music plays we all feel fine,

You’re gonna dance with me baby tonight…

    We can dance…

    We can dance…

    We can dance…

    We can dance…

We can dance together, in time…

  • 2 - Graffiti

    (J. Hardiment)

    (Recorded at Hart Studios, Ottawa.

Mixed and mastered by Josh Hart.)

    Lyrics:

    Verse 1:

Taking a stroll through the places we knew,

Never the same now you’re gone and it’s through,

Remembering nights, neon lights, and you…

Left me wondering what I should do?

All of those wonderful moments in time,

Drinking in restaurants lager with lime,

    Sitting on patios feeling sublime,

Working on music, inspiring my rhyme…

    Pre-chorus:

    Just like paint, you fade…

    (You fade…)

    Teardrops will wash you away…

    Rusted tracks, of life…

    (Of life…)

    In the pouring rain…

    Chorus:

We wrote our names in graffiti,

Abandoned train tracks where water meets the shore…

Next thing I know you won’t see me,

    A broken friendship, we don’t talk anymore…

    Verse 2:

Working so hard pushing forward somehow,

Minimal feelings are all I allow,

Giving all that I have here and now,

    Currency floating away into clouds,

Drilling me into a final breakdown,

Missing a friend with a smile and no frown,

Water falls deeper so I mustn’t drown,

Metaphors only it’s all in my crown…

    Pre-chorus:

    Just like paint, you fade…

    (You fade…)

    Teardrops will wash you away…

    Rusted tracks, of life…

    (Of life…)

    In the pouring rain…

    Chorus:

We wrote our names in graffiti,

Abandoned train tracks where water meets the shore…

Next thing I know you won’t see me,

    A broken friendship, we don’t talk anymore…

    Bridge:

    You’re the art the inspiration…

Now you paint my canvas blue baby,

You were all of my frustrations,

Why’d ya have to do what ya do to me?

    Chorus:

We wrote our names in graffiti,

Abandoned train tracks where water meets the shore…

Next thing I know you won’t see me,

    A broken friendship, we don’t talk anymore… (x2)

We’re the talk of the town,

    Should we swim or drown?

    Chorus:

    Our world’s will collide…

A spark til the end of the radio…

    Search inside…

Flames in the heart of a stereo…

    Search inside…

    Bridge:

They say we’re not meant to be,

But baby you’re all that I see,

    Holding onto you tonight…

    Sending out an S.O.S,

    To find ourselves,

    I must confess,

We’re tearing down these walls despite…

    Chorus:

    Our world’s will collide…

A spark til the end of the radio…

    Search inside…

Flames in the heart of a stereo…

(Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh)

    World’s collide…

(Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh)

    Search inside…

  • 4 - Innocence

    (J. Hardiment)

(Mixed and mastered by Josh Hart, at Hart Studios in Ottawa.)

    Lyrics:

    Verse 1:

A little village by the Rochdale (pronounced ‘Rotch-dale’) canal…

By the train tracks a bridge near a mill,

Where I spent all my earliest memories,

Telling jokes to those girls on the hill…

    Pre-chorus:

    Dance with the girls,

    Hang with the boys,

Sing in assembly to the tune,

    Teachers would shout,

    Then we would pout,

    Uniforms blue as the moon,

    Play in the fields,

    Roll in the grass,

    Pick daises love me true…

    Dinners were good,

    Benches of wood,

Peel the skin off the glue…

    You were the artists inspiration…

You were all of his frustration…

    Imagination running wild,

The innocence of a child, whoa oh ah oh…

    Chorus:

Gone are the days of childhood,

Now as a man I try to stay true,

Think to those days how time flew,

Oh as we change as life takes us through…

    Just a childhood innocence…

    Just a childhood innocence…

    Verse 2:

Smithy Bridge was the best years of Primary,

Always remember those good times I will,

Field-trips down to the lake known as Hollingworth,

Catching tadpoles with nets for a thrill…

    Pre-chorus:

    Dance with the girls,

    Hang with the boys,

Sing in assembly to the tune,

    Teachers would shout,

    Then we would pout,

    Uniforms blue as the moon,

    Play in the fields,

    Roll in the grass,

    Pick daises love me true…

    Dinners were good,

    Benches of wood,

Peel the skin off the glue…

    You were the artists inspiration…

You were all of his frustration…

    Imagination running wild,

The innocence of a child, whoa oh ah oh…

    Chorus:

Gone are the days of childhood,

Now as a man I try to stay true,

Think to those days how time flew,

    Just a childhood innocence…

    Bridge:

Think to those days of our past…

    Childhood innocence…

    Chorus:

Gone are the days of childhood,

Now as a man I try to stay true,

Think to those days how time flew,

Oh as we change as life takes us through…

  • 5 - Friday

    (J. Hardiment)

(Mixed and mastered by Josh Hart, at Hart Studios in Ottawa.)

    Lyrics:

(Attention passengers, the train to Toronto is now departing Platform one…all aboard!)

    Chorus:

    You know I’m sorry,

But I really wish we had had that conversation,

    Conversation we never had,

    And you know I’m sorry,

Cause my silence towards you was just frustration,

When you drove away I was sad…

This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go,

    Friday night in T.O,

This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go,

    Friday night in Toronto…

    Verse 1:

    Jake and the boys,

    Played in a band,

Music was their life all they could understand,

Went from a small town to a big city,

Ran into a girl from the past who was pretty,

Now Jake and his friends are lost in the town,

    It’s late in the night,

    No service around,

Just came here to play the music they love,

    Lost in the night,

    A sobering shove…

    Pre-Chorus:

    Playing in a band…

    Jake sings plays the keyboards,

    Rene plays the key-tar,

While Troy riffs on the guitar…

    Chorus:

    You know I’m sorry,

But I really wish we had had that conversation,

    Conversation we never had,

    And you know I’m sorry,

Cause my silence towards you was just frustration,

When you drove away I was sad…

This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go,

    Friday night in T.O,

This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go,

    Friday night in Toronto…

    Verse 2:

    Running though the darkness,

    Neon lights,

Chased by a hockey gang who wanted a fight,

It’s then they met Reggie the friendly cab driver,

    Who was born in Detroit,

    An inventor, survivor…

    Next they were hunted,

    A misunderstanding,

    Jake resembled a thief,

    Car chases, crash landing,

    The clock starts to tick,

    With seconds to go,

    A friendship rekindled,

    This things going to blow…

    Bridge:

This wasn't in the brochure, no no…

No seriously this wasn’t in the brochure, oh no no…

    Chorus:

    Sorry,

But I really wish we had had that conversation,

    Conversation we never had,

    And you know I’m sorry,

Cause my silence towards you was just frustration,

When you drove away I was sad…

This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go,

    Friday night in T.O,

This wasn’t how the night was supposed to go,

    Friday night in Toronto…

    Pre-Chorus:

    Playing in a band…

    Jake sings plays the keyboards,

    Rene plays the key-tar,

While Troy riffs on the guitar…

Da be de dab a dab a dab a dab…
