November 14th, 2016 was the closest to Earth the moon has been since January 26th, 1948. The moon will not be this close to our planet again until November 25th, 2034! A supermoon is a very recent term used to describe the moon at it's fullest, brightest and largest of any given month.
The people took advantage of this wonderful spectacle of nature and posted some amazing photographs online. Check out social media #supermoon and you will find some of those pictures for yourself!
Taking photographs of the moon can be a tricky business. The settings on the camera need to be played with because of how bright the moon can be. It is very easy to over and under expose the shot. With experimentation of the ISO, shutter speed, spot metering and focus settings some highly desirable shots can be taken. It all varies but a great place to start is ISO: 100 or 200 Shutter Speed: 1/125 F/11-16. The best lenses are 300mm and up for that closer look at the big rock in the sky!
